Christmas 2020 Events at Summercroft

I am delighted to be able to share our (slightly adapted) Christmas celebrations over the coming weeks.  Although things will be a bit different, we have found lots of ways to ensure we are still able to enjoy the build-up to Christmas as much as any other year, and that the children will still have a great experience.  Below are the events the children will be part of in the run up to Christmas.

Date

Event

Monday 30th November

Decoration Day in year group bubbles and Christmas jumpers.  Children should dress in non-school uniform and wear festive t-shirts, jumpers and accessories.  Unfortunately we cannot have any additional adult helpers this year.

Tuesday 1st December

Trees decorated with children’s crafts from Decoration Day

Monday 7th December

Drop off donations for Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank (children to bring their donations directly into classroom for initial quarantine).  Please click here to see which items are most needed.

7th – 18th December

Online pantomime (funded by the PTA). Every class will get the opportunity to watch a streamed pantomime throughout the two week period.

14th – 17th December

EYFS Christmas songs will be uploaded onto Tapestry daily.

16th December

Christmas Lunch. Please use SchoolGateway to give consent for your child to have Christmas lunch and confirm your child’s choice. (KS2 & Nursery, please ensure your child’s lunch account is in credit).

By 18th December

KS1 Christmas performance of songs will be uploaded onto website (further information will be sent nearer the time).

18th December

Remote Whole School Christmas Assembly

18th December

Staggered End of Term Timings (All from usual Pick Up areas)

Nursery and Reception – 12:55pm - 1:05pm

Year 1 – 1:05pm – 1:15pm

Year 2 – 1:10pm

Year 3 – 1:05pm – 1:15pm

Year 4 – 1:20pm

Year 5 – 1:20pm

Year 6 – 1:25pm

In addition to all of these events, Christmas cheer will be spread through the school with children singing carols in their bubbles during assembly and sharing a range of Christmas stories.  Previously, Santa has dropped in to school to leave some presents for our EYFS and KS1 children and we are keeping our fingers crossed that he will have time again this year.

The children can send Christmas cards to their friends in their year group bubbles.  Please seal the envelopes by tucking or taping rather than licking.  Final post will be collected on Friday 11th December.  The cards will then be distributed the following week, after being quarantined.

I am really pleased we have found lots of different ways to make the most of the festive period.   I know that our wonderful staff are also very excited and will make Christmas at Summercroft as special as ever.

Kind regards,

Mr Jess
