School Drop-off/Pick-up changes start after half-term
As you will be aware, I have been continually reviewing our risk assessment based on latest government guidance, local information and specific issues related to our school site. There will be a few changes implemented from after half term and I have also summarised the pick-up and collection times below to provide some clarity, as they have changed over the past few weeks. As the infection rates rise it is vital for us to continue to do our part in keeping everyone within our community safe and the following measures will be in place after half term.
Face Coverings
From Monday 2nd November all adults must wear a face covering while on the school premises unless medically exempt. This includes drop-off in the morning and collection at the end of the day for parents and carers who come onto the school grounds.
Reporting Positive Cases of Covid-19 Over Weekends and Half Term
To ensure I can fulfil our track and trace duties over weekends and half term, please send an email to covid@summercroft.herts.sch.uk immediately after you receive confirmation that your child has a positive case of Covid-19. Please include the following details so I can give as detailed an account of the situation as possible:
Child’s name:
Child’s year group and class:
Date of onset of symptoms and which symptoms they have:
Date of confirmation of Covid-19:
Last day child was in school:
Any siblings and their classes:
Drop-Off Timings
All children can be dropped off between 8:45am and 9:10am. Only one parent/carer of Nursery – Year 3 children should come on to school site to drop off (wearing a face covering) and Year 4 – Year 6 children should make their way from the school gates independently.

Social Distancing
This is our main way to reduce potential transmissions. Please ensure you maintain 2 metre distance from other parents and carers while waiting to collect your child after school, as well as wearing a face covering. There is either plenty of space on a playground or an extended window of time to collect children depending on the issues faced with the location of classrooms. It is essential that you stick to the timings and remain distant on the playgrounds while waiting. Please do not arrive early and wait outside as this only creates a bottleneck for other year groups leaving at staggered times.
Travelling Abroad
Please follow government guidance on travelling over the half term period and inform the school office admin@summercroft.herts.sch.uk if you are required to isolate for this reason.
I appreciate your support and understanding in ensuring everyone adheres to the new measures. These decisions have not been taken lightly and have been put in place to protect the children, their families and our staff. Reducing the risk of transmission means a safer environment for us all and less chance of further bubble closures.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Jess
