Some things to cheer about!

For the second year running, Summercroft features in the Sunday Times Top 250 State Primary Schools in England. On this occasion the ranking is based on the results of the End of Key Stage 2 Sats taken in 2019 and last year was based on those taken in 2018. This is an outstanding achievement as they surveyed the results of some 15000 schools.

This is a good reflection of the standard of teaching and learning for those children from when they first started at the school through to when they were in Year 6 and all the staff must rightly take the credit for the achievement. The children will have gone to secondary school not only having attained well in reading, grammar and maths but also having been taught a broad and balanced curriculum.

And turning to you, the governors want to say thank you for your compliance with the measures that have been put in place this term to reduce the risk of Covid 19 spreading into school. It is a huge relief and especially to the staff that they have been successful. We must not get complacent though and please adhere to whatever is put in place for next term.

In the meantime we hope you all have an enjoyable Christmas.

Kind regards,

Michael Kirby

Chair of Governors
