Daily reading
Learning spelling and number facts
One activity/task selected from Literacy or Numeracy

Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6)

Pupils will bring home a yellow folder each Friday with a task/tasks for completion at home. Please support the work and make sure the folder is returned to school by the following Wednesday. There is opportunity for you to comment on how your child approached the task on a sheet in the folder. Teachers will also comment as appropriate. This is one part of Homestudy. In addition the children are expected to read regularly at home. We give every child a reading diary which should travel to and from school. In this diary we ask pupils to keep a log of books read in and out of school and to complete some evaluation tasks. There will also be spellings and tables sent home for learning as appropriate to the needs of the child. Children who are given specific work to help with IEP targets should make this a priority over other written tasks set.

Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you have any questions about our Homestudy arrangements. Generally, homestudy each week will be:

  • Years 3 and 4
Ten to fifteen minutes daily reading (at least five times per week)
    Revision of tables/spellings
One activity/task selected from Literacy/Numeracy or topic
  • Years 5 and 6
Fifteen to twenty minutes daily reading (at least five times per week)
    Revision of tables/spellings as appropriate
Two activities/tasks selected from Literacy, Numeracy or topic
